Restoration

The restoration workshop

Boasting specialised and experienced staff, the textile restoration workshop is a cornerstone of the Deutsches Textilmuseum Krefeld (German Textile Museum Krefeld).

The conservators’ primary task is the care and preservation of the museum’s own collection.

In addition to the actual restoration work, the conservators also act as an exhibition team, preparing the objects for presentation, mounting them on mannequins, photographing them for publication, setting up and dismantling the exhibition, and monitoring its climate and lighting conditions.

In addition to the professional handling of the collection and exhibition objects, the restoration workshop can be commissioned by third parties and offers conservation science students an opportunity for internships to prepare them for and accompany their careers.
