Lectures, campaigns and events in 2022
Who do I want to be? Who am I allowed to be?
Status symbols and representational strategies of social climbers from the 18th century to the present:
The lecture series presents research results from the BMBF-funded joint project "PARVENUE - Bourgeois rise in the mirror of object culture in the 18th century". The research project is dedicated to the hitherto little researched art and material culture of social climbers, so-called Parvenüs, as an instrument of identity formation and self-assurance.
Mechanisms can be recognized here that still play a role today and still affect everyone individually in their own living environment.
